My life has been really hectic lately and filled with tons of distractions (work, family, friends, hobbies, different online opportunities, etc.). I always have a million of things to do and rarely have time for it all. I’m sure you have the same problem!

Well, I wanted to share a few techniques and tricks that I use to help me stay focused.

#1 – Write Down Your Goals

I wrote an article on why you should set goals (check it out!). I have three types of goals, daily, short term, and long term goals. When ever I get distracted I take a look at my goals and get right back on task.

#2 – Healthy Lifestyle

This may seem silly but having a healthy lifestyle really helps me. I try to exercise daily, eat healthy food, and get 7-8 hours of sleep a night. With a healthy life style, I find that I am in a better mode and have more energy to complete tasks.

#3 – Schedule Your Time

Scheduling my time keeps me productive and allows me to accomplish more. I am aware of exactly where I am spending my time and can track my progress on projects I am working on.

I also make sure I schedule some time for myself. I usually do something that I enjoy doing (watching movies, playing sports, reading a good book). I find that this clears my head and recharges my battery.

#4 – Take Days Off

This goes along with #3 but I regularly take Sundays off. If I would work 7 days a week, I would quickly get burnt out. Taking a day off allows me to stay energized.

#5 – Communicate

Communicating with friends and family also helps me stay focused. I talk to them about projects I am working on and future plans. By doing this, they can see how much time and energy I can dedicate to them.

Also, I have found that many times friends and family members will be willing to help you out if things get really busy.

If you are having a hard time focusing on projects/tasks, then I would highly suggest that you try a few of these techniques that have helped me out.
