First off, let me say I have nothing wrong with long, useful posts. The problem is, most bloggers tend to ramble and ramble, just because they think a post needs to be long - you’re wrong!
Short posts that are to the point are a lot better to middle sized ones that go on for ages but talk about nothing useful. If you want to do a long post, make sure it is all focused on one topic, and one that people will not just link to, but also keep coming back to check out, because the post is useful.
Note, I’m not advocating posts that are three lines long, but they don’t need to be more than a few paragraphs in some cases.. the more you drone, the less your readers pay attention.
See, this post for example. Over before you even knew it, but hopefully offered you something to thing about. Think of yourself - would you read a blog post that was long, especially when you have other blogs to read and work to do? I wouldn’t, or at best I’d skim through it, unless it offered something extremely useful.
So keep them short, before you send your readers to sleep like Garfield above! ![]()

Talk about timing. I recently had a comment from a happy reader who did mention that I’m a little verbose at time lol.
I tried too explain no no dear friend, not verbose; THOROUGH!
I do tend to prattle on sometimes, but I also make sure (I hope) that it is useful for sure.
