Blogging Idol was a contest created by Daniel Scocco to see what blog can gain the most RSS subscribers. Well, Daniel is at it again and has started Blogging Idol 2. The contest runs from Nov 1st to Nov 30th.

Here are the rules of the contest
1. Any blog or website with 2,000 RSS readers or fewer can participate. One blog per competitor only. (participant blogs must have the Feedburner feed count enabled)

2. The competition runs from November 1st until November 30th. During that period, 7 points will be awarded to the competitors, on the following way:

* 1 point to the competitor with the highest increase on the number of RSS subscribers
* 3 points to the competitors (one for each) with the highest number of votes on the open voting session
* 3 points awarded by a panel of judges

3. The criteria for the voting session and for the judge points will be: the most clever and effective strategy for gaining RSS subscribers and for promoting the blog. Paid and blackhat promotional methods are not allowed.

4. On November 30th, the blogger with more points (it will probably be 3 or 2 points) will be declared the winner and receive the prizes. The second and third places will also receive prizes.

This will be my first online contest and I believe it will be a lot of fun. I think I will meet a lot of bloggers and people in the blogging world.

I am asking you to help me out! If you are reading this blog then please subscribe to my site and help me build my numbers!

Like a lot of people, I am always thinking of new ideas and projects to work on.
These projects and ideas usually cause me to lose focus on websites or projects I am currently working on. Besides these distractions, I work a full time job and have a personal life. So you can see that sometimes it is hard to stay focused on DaBlogger.com. One thing that helps me stay focused is to set goals for myself.

I have three types of goals: daily goals, short term goals, and long term goals.

Every night, I write down three daily goals that I want to complete the next day. My daily goals are always setup so that when completed, they help me reach my short term and long term goals. Daily goals usually consist of commenting on other blogs, starting threads on forums, or writing content.

My short term goals are usually weekly and not so outrageously high that I can’t meet them. They usually consist of short projects or tasks that take me no longer than a week to complete. I usually set weekly goals to help increase the number of weekly visitors or increase the number of backlinks to this site. My weekly goals are always targeted to help me meet my long term goals.

My long term goals are monthly or yearly goals. They obviously take more time and effort than the daily or short term goals. My long term goals usually consist of large projects like building an ebook, increasing RSS subscribers, or starting a email campaign.

To help me keep to my goals, I review them once a day to make sure I am sticking to them.

Setting these types of goals helps me stay focused on DaBlogger.com. If you are having a hard time staying focused on one project or task then I highly recommend starting your own goal list.

Recently, I have been looking for an ebook that would give me a few tips and tricks about blogging. I decided to look at “The Blog Manual” after reading reviews boasting about how great of a resource it was. Well, this purchase was one of the best ones I have made in a long time and would recommend it to anyone that is looking to enter the blogging world.

The 31 page ebook teaches you various blogging tips that you must understand in order to have a successful blog. It takes you through the beginning stages of your blog and gives information about basic blogging topics, like how to pick the right webhosting company.

After you have mastered the basics, it will take provide tips to better optimize your site for search engines and web bots. It also provides some useful blogging plugins that are beneficial to the growth of your blog.

The ebook covers a few advanced topics like how to use social media sites to benefit your site and security issues that every website must deal with. This is a piece that I thought was very useful and I actually learned a lot from reading it.

Not only does Brad provide informational written text, but he also provides pictures and diagrams. They are used to support the written content and help people that may get lost while reading. I am more of a visual person so the pictures and diagrams really helped me understand Brad’s points.

Overall, I wish I had this book when I first started blogging. It would have saved me time that I spent reading and researching topics that every new blogger will need to figure out. If you are looking for a very helpful resource, then check “The Blog Manual”.

Currently, I am working on increasing my RSS subscribers.  I have a goal in mind that I would like to reach by the end of the year and I’m working hard to meet this goal.  Here are a few tips on how I am going to increase my RSS subscribers.

1.  Make It Easy To Find – This is probably very obvious.  If people can’t find where to sign up, they just won’t spend the time looking for it.  This is the same for anything in life.  If you don’t make it wasy for people they aren’t going to go out of their way to do what you want them to do.

2.  Free Stuff – One way to gain soem quick RSS subscribers is to offer free stuff to people who sign up.  You can offer ebooks, videos, or more indepth articles to subscribers.  People always love things that are free.  (Hopefully I will have some free goodies soon for my readers.  Stay tuned!!).

3.  Build Relationships With Other Sites – Build relationships by finding similar blogs and comment on them.  Find forums like Digital Point and SitePoint and post oh these sites.  Make it a habbit to regularly guest post on related sites and email with site owners.  These are good ways you can build relationships and build your RSS subscribers.

4. Submit Your Feed To Directories – This will not provide huge amounts of traffic but robots and spiders will find them here.

5. Tell Visitors The Benefits – Tell you visitors what type of content they can expect and the benefits they will get from subscribing to your feed.

All of these are ways you can increase your RSS subscribers.  Like I said above, I have a goal in mind for the number of RSS subscribers I would like to get.  Help a guy out and subscribe to my RSS feed!

Three things I want to mention in this post.

1.  There are a lof of advertising spaces available on DaBlogger.com.  I currently have over 200 RSS subscribers and steady daily traffic.  I am selling the 125×125 spaces on the right navigation menu for $7 per month.  I am selling the 468×49 space on the homepage for $5 per month.  I feel that this is a good deal for anyone looking to advertise.  Please contact me if you are interested.

2.  I am so doing reviews of sites.  The reviews will cost you $10 per review.  What will you get for the $10?  First, I will personally review your site.  I will send you the review via email and post the review on DaBlogger.com.  Second, the post will remain on DaBlogger.com FOREVER and you will get a spot on my “Get Reviewed” tab.  Third, the review will go out to over 200 people via email and RSS feed.

3.  I would like to apologize to people that were trying to contact me via email.  The email account for DaBlogger.com had a few issues.  These issues have been resolved and I will be responding to any emails I get.

When getting started in affiliate marketing, one of the biggest problems new affiliates is deciding on which network to use – there are dozens of choices, all with hundreds of reviews of the service… and when faced with so many options, new affiliates can get too confused to even start their affiliate marketing journey.

That’s where helpful websites like Affiliate Tips come in. Affiliate Tips is a website that aims to teach you all about affiliate marketing, including reviews of networks as well as tips and tricks on how you can take your efforts to the next level.

No matter what your niche, you’ll find something for you at affiliate tips – be it health, dating, ringtones or finance, you’ll find the website handy as it has some very useful tools and articles you can use. The frontpage has a monthly revenue calculator, so you can estimate how much you’re going to make… you can also compare affiliate programs to see the pros and cons (and a review) of each one.

Like a specific niche above all others? Affiliate Tips has special pages for different niches so that you can see the best ones rated by the website. For example, check out the page for dating affiliate programs – there are seven, ranked in order each with details on how much is paid, a score and whether it offers lifetime commissions or not. There are also reviews linked to, so you should really make Affiliate Tips your number one destination before you decide to start.

The website design is very professional and it is easy to navigate, and it looks to be one of the best resources on the subject out there. If it were to be improved, perhaps a forum could be added for more interaction… but it is fine the way it is just as a blog.

What are you waiting for? Head on over to Affiliate Tips and get started with affiliate marketing today!

Finding your niche is one of the first decisions you need to make when you start a website.  It can be a very difficult and frustrating process to find the perfect niche.  It may take hours of researching and browsing the internet.  Sometimes I even have a hard time figuring out what niche to start a website in.  To help you out, I have put together a short list of questions to ask yourself when you are deciding on your niche.

1. What Are Your Hobbies? – The first thing to look at is your hobbies.  Hobbies are usually things you like to do and have basic knowledge of.  They are a great place to start when you are trying to decide on your niche.  Picking a niche that you enjoy and want to talk about will only help your site succeed.

2.  Can You Make Your Niche Unique? – The second thing to keep in mind is uniqueness.  A lot of new sites are successful because they have something unique to offer visitors.  Many sites fail because they are just like other sites about a specific topic.  Take facebook.com.  It is successful because it offers a unique way of communicating with people you have met. When picking your niche,  look for uniqueness.

3.  Is There A Lot of People In Your Niche? – The third thing to keep in mind is how saturated is your target niche market.  It will be a lot easier to start a successful site in a niche that has less competition.  An example of this is the niche of making money online.  There are hundreds of blogs out there on this niche and because of this it is very hard to enter into this niche.  Find a niche that is not saturated.

4.  Did You Do Research? – Whatever your answer is, you need to do more.  Research what current trends are and what future trends may be.  Research other successful niche sites to see what their process was to enter into their niche market.  Research to find out if there is even a market for your niche.  The more research you do the better off you will be.

Finding the right niche can be a long and hard process.  Ask yourself these questions to make the process much easier.
