Today’s post is about a simple idea – that is the idea that the early bird makes the most money.

This is usually the case in real life (the first applicant, as long as he is qualified, to a job usually gets it) but this is also the case online.

If you’ve played around online, you’ll have heard of affiliate marketing – and as a blogger, you’ll know a lot about affiliate marketing is getting people to join your downline.

For example, Pepperjam (PJN) started paying $7/referral this month – if you got in early and posted about it before everyone else, you’d have made more money than a late riser. If you had referred 100 people, you could have made $700. Not bad, hey?

The problem with this is that sometimes people get caught up and start promoting anything and everything, just because they’re scared of missing out. For example, Blog Rush, Agloco – how many people promoted them only to find out they were well, rubbish?

Make sure you use due diligence to check out a company – is it promising lots for little? Is it overhyping so much that you winning the Olympics this year would be more believable? And if you do find out that they’re being shady, don’t be afraid to call them out; controversial posts have always worked well for traffic from what I’ve seen.

Of course, this doesn’t only have to be getting people to sign up for something.

The first person to stumble across a hidden niche makes a lot of money if they do it right.

The first person to comment on a blog post usually gets the most traffic if their post is good enough.

The first few to join forums and build reputation are usually a lot more trusted than a two day old user.

The first few to make a scientific discovery are the ones that are best lauded.

The first to approach a blogger usually gets what he wants, as long as the request is polite and easily done.

Do you see what I mean?

There are plenty more examples. You can be one of them if you’re an early bird.

Of course, this early bird idea doesn’t work for getting up early in the morning. Sleeping more is better, as the more rest you have the more energy you have for the rest of the day. So when you next have someone yelling at you for getting up late, you know what to tell them!

Remember to use these ideas to further your success!
