If you run a blog, no matter what the niche (as long as it isn’t some obscure one, that only you’re in) you have to network.
Obviously if you’re running your blog as a personal diary and don’t care if anyone reads it that’s different (although why not keep an offline one instead?) but if you want to become semi-successful, and more importantly make money off it, you will have to build relationships with other bloggers in the industry, as they can help you out in times of need (and improve your blog).
If you network with bloggers, you build up friendships… say you have a day where you can’t post, and haven’t bothered to get a post timestamped in advance, you could easily ask a friend of yours, and if you’ve built a strong enough relationship they’ll fill in.
I personally have a few dozen friends in the same niche as me – I go to them when I need help and advice, and they do the same. I try and help them out as much as possible.
How about you – what do you think of blogger networking? Here’s some easy ways to network:
Email. Nothing gets to a blogger more than a personal email introducing yourself and talking about a partnership.
Instant Messenger. This is quicker, and more casual than your average email – some bloggers may even prefer it.
Comment. You can build a bit of history for yourself by commenting on the posts of a blogger. Remember to leave useful comments and do not spam.
Your own blog. Writing a post about another blogger is any easy way to reach out – nothing works better than a little bit of sucking up.
