This is not a programming blog but I thought this site would be useful to many of you who like to dig into coding and add new functionality to your site.

When I first started my career, I was a web programmer. I worked on many websites and projects related to e-commerce. When I was programming, I always needed to look up coding examples and research different coding standards and Inferno Development is just that.

Inferno Development offers articles which will help you with web development, PHP, JavaScript, C#, C++, and photoshop.

Besides useful articles, they also have tutorials which will show you, step by step, how to complete different projects and enhance your site.

While browsing Inferno Development, make sure you look through the forum. Here, you can find a community of people that will also be able to assist you with any problems you may have. It is another great resource for you!

Besides programming help, they help with web design, graphics, and SEO. This site pretty much covers it all and they are willing to help you with any problems that you may have.

Check it out!

Occasionally, I get visitors emailing me with questions. I try to answer everyone’s emails but sometimes I don’t have time (sorry if you are one of those). I want to share a question that I just got:

Do you think StumbleUpon is a good way to get traffic?

Answer:
Well, as many of you know, StumbleUpon is an internet community which allows users to discover new sites and is used by thousands of people. StumbleUpon can be a good source of traffic but usually the quality is poor.

What do I mean by poor quality? Visitors coming from StumbleUpon are not targeted traffic. They are coming to your site to just browse your content and have no interest in what you are promoting. They will only stay for a short period of time and will not likely return. These visitors are not apt to sign up for email or RSS feeds.

Also, traffic from StumbleUpon usually only last for a few days and then dissipates to almost nothing.

With that said, I believe that StumbleUpon is a great way to drive traffic to your site. It is a free source of traffic so why not use it!

I also believe that it is the site owner’s responsibility to convert the visitors to email subscribers or RSS subscribers. You need to do this by providing value on your site (quality content) which will cause people to come back to your site.

Keywords

Coming up with keywords for your posts or articles is an important part to search engine optimization. If done right, it can make your site easier to find for search engines and searches.

In this post, I’ll inform you on how to select your keywords.

I think of 1-3 keywords for each post/article I write. The keyword(s) are related to what is in my content or site and are unique and creative.

I suggest when you are picking your keywords, you should first consider your target audience. Generate your keywords by thinking about why people visit your site and what they want to gain from your site. Write these keywords down and use them for your posts.

You should also think about what keywords people could type into search engines. Jot them down and then use these in your content. Your article will then come up when people search on these keyword phrases.

Also, you should pick non-competitive keywords. For example, “Making Money Online” is a competitive keyword phrase. Thousands of people try to optimize there sites with this keyword. Pick non-competitive keywords for your site!

After you have picked your keywords, use them throughout your content. Do not go over board! Use them where they make sense!

You should also use these keywords in your page title and in your meta descriptions.

It takes a while to know how to pick the correct keywords for you posts/articles. It is difficult to have a lot of success the first time you try, so don’t get discouraged. Don’t be afraid to try new things when you insert keywords into your content, title and meta description. If you create keywords that are unique and original then sooner or later you will find success.

Here is another service I am looking into using to make some money. Check out InLinks.com for things I didn’t cover!

What is InLinks.com?

InLinks is a service that allows companies to purchase keywords on your site. The service looks for static keywords within your content and replaces them with hyperlink advertisements.

What blog platforms does InLinks support?

InLinks supports many blogging platforms including: Wordpress, Drupal, Moveable Table, and Ruby on Rails. InLinks is continuously looking to integrate with new platforms.

How you choose what ads you want on your site?

Yes, InLinks allows you to setup what ads appear on your site and what ads are blocked.

Can you run InLinks with other ad systems?

Yes! There are no restrictions to what ad systems you can run with InLinks.

How do I get paid and what is the minimum payout?

Payments are sent out on the 1st of every month. You can receive payment by check, Paypal, or Payoneer. I really like being able to get paid with paypal.

The earnings begin when the advertisement gets placed on sites.

The minimum payment to be sent out via check or Payoneer is $25. There is no minimum for PayPal payments.

Where do I go for support?

You can email our tech support at: techsupport@inlinks.com

I am going to try this service. I will update this post with my experience using InLinks.com.

My life has been really hectic lately and filled with tons of distractions (work, family, friends, hobbies, different online opportunities, etc.). I always have a million of things to do and rarely have time for it all. I’m sure you have the same problem!

Well, I wanted to share a few techniques and tricks that I use to help me stay focused.

#1 – Write Down Your Goals

I wrote an article on why you should set goals (check it out!). I have three types of goals, daily, short term, and long term goals. When ever I get distracted I take a look at my goals and get right back on task.

#2 – Healthy Lifestyle

This may seem silly but having a healthy lifestyle really helps me. I try to exercise daily, eat healthy food, and get 7-8 hours of sleep a night. With a healthy life style, I find that I am in a better mode and have more energy to complete tasks.

#3 – Schedule Your Time

Scheduling my time keeps me productive and allows me to accomplish more. I am aware of exactly where I am spending my time and can track my progress on projects I am working on.

I also make sure I schedule some time for myself. I usually do something that I enjoy doing (watching movies, playing sports, reading a good book). I find that this clears my head and recharges my battery.

#4 – Take Days Off

This goes along with #3 but I regularly take Sundays off. If I would work 7 days a week, I would quickly get burnt out. Taking a day off allows me to stay energized.

#5 – Communicate

Communicating with friends and family also helps me stay focused. I talk to them about projects I am working on and future plans. By doing this, they can see how much time and energy I can dedicate to them.

Also, I have found that many times friends and family members will be willing to help you out if things get really busy.

If you are having a hard time focusing on projects/tasks, then I would highly suggest that you try a few of these techniques that have helped me out.

Recently, Darren Rowse used pop-ups on one of his sites to promote his email newsletter. He didn’t get many complaints about the pop-ups and saw dramatic improvements in the number of subscribers. Soon after he posted his findings, there were many others that took his advice and started doing the same thing.

After I read this article, I was stunned and couldn’t believe what Darren was saying. I always thought that pop-ups were evil and caused people to leave your site and never come back.

According to Darren and others in the blogging world, pop-ups are a good way to increase your blogs following. I don’t think visitors to DaBlogger.com would be very excepting to pop-ups. However, I think that for some sites, pop-ups may be an effective way to gain subscribers. You have to know your audience and whether they will respond positively to pop-ups.

I would like to know what you think.

Do you use pop-ups to promote email newsletters or other products/services?

If you do, do pop-ups really get your visitors to take action or do your visitors get annoyed and ignore them? This has been a question I have wondered for a long time.

Throughout my career, I have been a part of many websites. I have worked on both the business aspect and the programming side. While working on these various sites, I have learned many things. One of the most important things I’ve learned is to outsource what you don’t know.

What are the benefits of out sourcing?

1. You Save Time – I have spent many hours trying to design sites without any luck. Rather than struggle with the best colors and layout, I would rather find someone to design a site for me.

2. You Save Money – Most of the time you can find people willing to work for cheap. Since I have no artistic abilities, I found a guy to create me a unique wordpress theme for under $100. It would have taken me months to create a similar theme.

3. You Get Quality – The purpose of outsourcing is to get someone that is knowledgeable in a specific area that you may not be. Presumably, you should find that will provide you with quality work because that person will hopefully take pride in their work.

4. You Can Concentrate On What You Do Best – By outsourcing tasks, you get to spend more time on what you do best. Instead of wasting my time trying to design a site, I spent it writing content, programming & making money.

As a blogger, you can outsource many areas of your site including: design, content writing, SEO, comment moderation, link building, and much more.

There is one draw back to outsourcing and that is you have to pay for it. Most of the time, the pros out way the cons and it will only benefit you. Make sure you do your research before you hire someone so you get good quality for the best price.

Google has provided some great analyical, reporting, and ranking tools that help webmasters.  I use many of these tools daily.  I find myself spending hours and hours analyzing reports that I generated from these tools. Take a look at these videos in which Google describes their services.

Video #1 – Intro to Webmaster Central

Video #2 – Other Google Resources

Video #3 – Discoverability

Video #4 – Crawling and Indexing

Video #5 – Ranking

I suggest you sign up for Google’s webmasters tools if you don’t already use them. I have and have only benefited from using them.
